Coconut Secret: The Secret to Soy-Free Asian Sauces

Soy-Free Asian sauces

I love Asian style food. I’ll often mix soy, teriyaki, and Korean barbecue sauces into my normal, American/western recipes. Unfortunately, I usually have to forgo these sauces when I’m dieting because they have too much sodium, and let’s not even think about the sugar. I’m okay with sugar normally but I find I get the best results when I just nix it from my diet completely. Perhaps my body is less okay with it than me!

I whipped up some sautéed mushrooms to try it out: some beef broth, some Coconut Aminos, and of course the mushrooms. I don’t have any measurements, sorry! When I’m making up stuff for the first time, I tend to just throw things in a pan and adjust as I keep making it.

Anyway, the results were way better than I expected! The mushrooms were absolutely delicious and with how I’ve been eating lately, they felt like a real treat. It’s good to know this is something I can now have on a regular basis. I can also have stir fries again, which is GREAT NEWS because that’s my favorite food. My next step is to try it with some shirataki rice and/or noodles. This could be a great low carb meal I would enjoy even off my diet.

Sweeteners, Flour, snacks… they’ve got it all!

Coconut Secret actually has a full line of products that could replace just about any sugar-related food product. I really want to try the Coconut Nectar. I love syrup and I know I use way too much of it. I’m hoping this is an acceptably tasty alternative so I can replace my Log Cabin Lite with Coconut Nectar. You can actually view a selection of their other products right here on Amazon.

I recently purchased the teriyaki sauce to try as well. I was a little put off by the vinegar smell, but once it’s cooked with food you can’t actually taste the vinegar. Definitely approve of this product as well!

If you’re looking for soy-free, gluten-free, low carb, low sodium, low fat products with high taste, give Coconut Secret a try. You can find their products at Amazon or Whole Foods. Probably a few other stores as well, but these are two that I know of. I’m definitely going to try everything they offer when I get the chance.

Steph’s Discover Play List: August 22, 2016

Play list sharing, because I love music

I want to share a lot of different play lists, but curating music is definitely a feat! For now, I’m going to share my Discover play lists from Spotify. They’re pretty accurate to what I like to listen to. I’ll be updating every Monday with the new weekly lists. Hope you enjoy and find something you like!

This week’s play list features 30 songs and has a runtime of 1 hour and 57 minutes. It’s truly a discovery list because the only artist I’ve heard of is Krewella, and I haven’t listen to much of their stuff anyway.

Getting a New Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 7

My phone is basically an extension of my arm. When I can’t get to my computer, it’s important to me to still be connected. Rather just for researching the latest 3D modeling trends, looking up clothing, trying to find the latest in beauty products or just to able to keep in touch with all my friends. I’m also able to monitor any customer issues sent to my email box. Sometimes I’m able to help them without making them wait till I make it back home. Add in all the fun stuff you can do – YouTube, Twitch, Netflix – and it’s no wonder why I find it hard to part with some sort of phone or tablet device.

Time for an upgrade

Last year, my two year upgrade was available. At the time, I wasn’t really excited about any of the phones that were out then. I wanted to continue with the Galaxy line but the S6 wasn’t super appealing to me, especially after my sister had issues with her So Edge running slowly. Plus, I knew if I got the 6, I’d be missing out on my chance to grab a phone with lucky number 7. Totally a reason to pick a device, right?

The well, truly, I didn’t really have to wait for long. The Galaxy S7 came out shortly after I was eligible. The problem was that most of the phone companies have changed how customers buy their phones. In lieu of the two year contract, you now purchase the phone over monthly payments. This is in addition to whatever your service bill is. The thought of paying full price for a phone was daunting, though I suppose in a contract you would pay for it anyway. Either way, I couldn’t really afford to pay the extra per month at the time, and my dad wasn’t willing to help me out. I’m still on the family plan because they let me be, so why not!?

Lately I’ve been making more money and my sister and I moved so our bills are a bit cheaper. I figured it was the right time to purchase! After a hiccup with my Verizon account not letting me purchase, I’m so excited to finally be able to buy a new phone! It took a long time, but in a way, I’m glad it did.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is out tomorrow!

The Galaxy Note 7 is coming out on August 19th (that’s tomorrow!). It went on pre-sale the day I was trying to sort out my account information. I was so annoyed by all the hiccups, but it really worked out. The Note 7 is basically an upgraded version of the S7 Edge, the phone I had originally planned to purchase. I’ve always wanted to try the S-Pen, too. Well, I suppose I’ve had a little experience with it thanks to my friend’s Note 3.

I put in my order on the 16th, it shipped on the 17th, and by tomorrow I should have it. I’m so excited! Once I’ve received it, I have several phone related posts I want to do. If you’re interested, please come back again to check them out!

Metal Mulisha Bags – Black, Pink, and Bows; OMG!

Handbag Wishlist #1

Metal Mulisha Bags

First, I’d like to say how excited I am to write this post! This is the first in a series of wish list type posts I’ll be doing. I have a lot of things saved up that I’d love to share. Honestly, a place to share my wish lists is the idea that finally made me feel like I could actually start up a blog. After making up excuses and putting it off for long, I finally feel like “THIS IS IT! I can do this!”

Since I’m super excited about blogging and sharing wish lists and things, I thought I’d start with some bags I fell in love with a few weeks ago. I’m pretty sure these bags were somehow designed especially for me. Black and pink, WITH BOWS, and a metal/gothic style? Yes, please! Plus, they’re totally affordable at about $50 a pop. I’m definitely buying one of these as one of my diet milestone rewards.

I’ve picked 5 bags for the graphic, but I pretty much love every single Metal Mulisha has produced. You can check out the rest of the bag line, as well as clothing, shoes, and other accessories – both for men and women – here at their website.

My top 5 (or 6) Urban Decay Must Haves

5 (or 6) Urban Decay Products I can't Live Without

I love love love love LOVE Urban Decay! The packaging is what sold me at first (they a lot of butterflies and I love it) but the quality products made me a fan for life. I thought I’d share with you all a few of my staple items that I keep around no matter what.

Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion

I find this stuff helps me a LOT since I’ve got a medium dark skin tone and have issues with colors showing up sometimes. Of course, primer isn’t going to change color theory, but it helps if you get enough of the eyeshadow to actually stick to your skin. A little bit of this will keep your eyeshadow in place all day.

24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil

Just about everyone knows and loves Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliner pencils! This one is in black but I also keep a purple. If I had to choose one though, black all the way. I remember a time when I didn’t realize they could actually be sharpened, so I’ve had a few that I always kept even though they were dull. Fun super noob fact about me! At least I had plenty pencils to use for awhile after I figured that out.

These are so great because as the name suggests, they just glide on. They also really are long lasting! The only thing I enjoy more than these pencils is gel eyeliner. Now that I think of it though, these are sort of like gel liner in pencil form. At least that’s how it feels. Top product!

Perversion Mascara

I actually got this one in as a sample in an Ipsy bag. I’ve had other Urban Decay mascara that I’ve used and loved before, but at the time I had just bought L’Oréal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara that I was busy trying out. Honestly, I like them both, but I  just always want a UD product around, so I keep this too. It’s great for creating long dramatic lashes without dealing with lash glue. It’s long lasting and I haven’t had any issues with clumping.

Makeup Setting Sprays

All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray and De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray

Oh my god, life savers! These two sprays are my absolute favorites, especially the De-slick. All Nighter make up setting spray was an absolute hit back when it first came out and afterwards they began formulating other versions of it. As soon as I learned there was one for oily skin, I purchased from my nearest Ulta ASAP.

De-Slick Mattifying Powder

This little compact lives in my purse. I use it throughout the day to touch up my nose. Seems like no matter what I do, my nose just loves to produce oil. This helps with that! I highly recommend it if you find yourself having the same problem on any area of your face.

And there you have it. My Urban Decay staples! I look forward to trying out more things in the future. I’m currently not wearing much make up right now because I’m focusing on skin care. I still have to have that eyeliner sometimes though.Looking through all these products makes me want to shop for more, so I’ll probably make a wishlist soon! You can bet the new Alice palette with be on there as well.

Think you could use these products as well? Check them out below!
